Russell Pike

Russell Pike, a Las Vegas native, is a huge advocate of the Water Smart Landscapes Rebate program (http://www.snwa.com/html/cons_wsl.html) and its effort to convert water thirsty green lawns into water efficient desert landscapes.  Pike is one of many Vegas residents who converted their lush green yards into an oasis of native plants, plants whose existence makes sense in the dry desert climate of the Las Vegas valley.  It is an extra incentive that the Southern Nevada Water Authority will offer residents a rebate of $1.50 for each of the first 5,000 square feet of grass converted into desert landscape, and $1.00 beyond the first 5,000 square feet.  Water conservation is a burden we all share, and if it takes a cash incentive to get the ball rolling, then, well-done SNWM.  Pike will use this site to extol the virtues of the natural native landscape and the plants that are uniquely suited for our climate.
